BRIAN KOPP JOINS CATAPULT AS PRESIDENT, NORTH AMERICA

Catapult is excited to announce Brian Kopp as the company’s President for North America. 

Brian is a sports analytics executive with significant industry experience working with teams on emerging technologies. Brian was named a 2013 Idea Innovator by Sports Business Journal and his previous projects have won numerous technology and innovation awards.

Brian’s strategic and operational strengths will be used to build up the Catapult US team, with his priorities around establishing support-focused sports science and analytics departments.

Brian is thrilled to join the Catapult team and take the reigns of the rapidly growing US market, both at the elite level and expanding in to lower-tier opportunities and new sports.

“It feels great to be working with Catapult,” Brian said.

“Where I see sports analytics going, and you see it reflected in what the media is talking about and what teams are most interested in, is the biometric analysis of athletes. This can only really be measured with intelligent wearable technology, and Catapult has always been in the best position to lead and carry this field.

“Consequently, in addition to the acquisition of new US clients, building up our customer relations through support, sports science and data science teams is my immediate priority. The Catapult technology is unmatched and the data is plentiful, but now we need to strengthen the bridge between the information you get from these little monitors and what coaches want to know or see.”

The addition of Brian to a senior leadership role reinforces Catapult’s focus on growth in the US market. Catapult’s US clients will require customization of software features and uses specific to the US sports landscape, and Brian’s experience integrating technology in to elite teams and leagues will certainly catalyze the growth of sports science in the US.

Catapult Chairman Adir Shiffman understands the breadth of US sport and the investment needed to maximize a growing client list.

A sought after executive, Brian’s vision for the future is highly regarded, and he was inadvertently recommended to Catapult by one of the company’s high-level advisors.

“After I left my previous job, I met with a number of emerging sports technology companies. I also reached out to Mark Cuban to get his advice. He mentioned I should join a company like Catapult because they are the future of sports analytics. So that was a pretty compelling endorsement as I weighed up my options.”

Throughout his career, Brian has held strategy and development positions for a variety of growth-oriented companies. He previously served as Senior Vice President at STATS LLC, and has held leadership roles at Career Education, NAVTEQ, Svoboda Capital, and Merrill Lynch. 

Brian received his MBA from Northwestern University and BA in Economics from Wabash College.
