Two long-time Catapult clients will battle it out for AFL glory in this Saturday afternoon’s Grand Final at the MCG.
The Hawthorn Hawks, last year’s runners-up to the Sydney Swans (also a Catapult client, and fun fact: the Swans originally herald from South Melbourne – where swans are prevalent around Albert Park Lake – the home of Catapult’s headquarters) will be looking for redemption with almost an entire team with grand final experience.
The Hawks were Catapult’s first-ever AFL client, still going strong after eight seasons, and are looking for their eleventh premiership after their most recent 2008 grand final win.
Paul Dear, Catapult’s Business Development Manager, played in two grand finals for Hawthorn (1987 and 1991), winning the second and taking home the prestigious Norm Smith Medal for best on ground in a grand final.
The Fremantle Dockers, from Australia’s west coast, will be playing in their first ever grand final after 19 years in the AFL. Fremantle have been using Catapult for the past five seasons, while coach Ross Lyon had previous experience with the technology while coaching the St. Kilda Saints to two consecutive grand finals (2009-10).
Catapult wish both teams luck for a safe and memorable grand final!
