Demonstrating the growing importance of athlete analytics across a growing range of sports, Catapult has signed up two French handball teams: the French National Team and Montpellier Agglomération Handball.

The French National Handball Team are the current double reigning Olympic champions, having taken home the gold medal from the Beijing and London games, and are the first team to win the treble of the Olympic Games, World Championships and European Championships. The all-star team is commonly referred to as the finest national team in the history of the sport.

Montpellier Agglomération play in the Ligue Nationale de Handball (LNH) Division 1, France’s premier men’s professional handball league. They are the only French team to win the European Club Handball Champions League and are both the current LNH champions and the team with the most national championships.

Montpellier are associated with Institut National du Sport, de l’Expertise et de la Performance (INSEP) and will be using OptimEye units indoors to quantify movement – with changes of direction, accelerations and decelerations very important in handball.

Catapult look forward to working in a new sport with two of the most elite teams in the world.
