It’s a term woven into the fabric of football.
Through its new partnership with Catapult, USA Football underscores this attribute of America’s favorite sport.
Catapult, a global leader in athlete analytics, was founded in 2006 to provide a research-based approach to athlete management. Catapult has empowered coaches around the world by delivering scientifically validated metrics for the advancement of athletes’ performance and measuring physical activity.
Catapult and USA Football will collaborate to collect football-specific data through Catapult’s wearable sensors to measure athletes’ speed, distance run and other variables.
"At St. Joseph's Prep, we are always concerned about the safety of our players,” Philadelphia St. Joseph’s Prep Head Coach Gabe Infante said. “That's why we have partnered with Catapult to help us build better, more effective and, most importantly, safer workouts and practices. Catapult will allow us to track our athletes and allow us to be smarter about the way we prepare them for competition.”
“Partnering with USA Football is very exciting for Catapult,” Catapult Performance Associate Alex Paluka said. “We know how important it is to provide the tools to continue to enhance the safety of the game from professional to high school to youth football. Working with a U.S. Olympic Committee member dedicated to coaches and athletes, changing for the better how the sport is taught and played, is an exceptional fit for us. Challenging the status quo and determining how to make something great even better inspires us and USA Football.”
“Catapult is an industry leader that will help us advance our work for the good of young athletes,” USA Football Senior Director of Football Operations Nick Inzerello said. “Its staff and technology deliver insight and tangible metrics of a sport’s fitness benefits that are uncommon. We’re pleased to work together and gain important learnings for coaches, parents and athletes.”
