AFC Bournemouth using Catapult G5 to inform goalkeeper coaching

AFC Bournemouth are one of several Premier League sides using Catapult G5 technology to monitor and improve goalkeeper performance.

Used by clubs including Chelsea, Leicester City, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, the G5 leverages the inertial sensors within a GPS device to deliver unique, goalkeeper-specific metrics that measure the volume and intensity of a goalkeeper’s actions.

We recently went behind the scenes at Bournemouth’s training ground to find out how the club are using the G5 to monitor the performance and exertion of their goalkeepers across the training cycle.

We spoke to first-team goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and assistant goalkeeping coach Anthony White, in addition to our very own sports scientist Rob Heyworth and head of UK and Ireland sales Curt Taylor, to find out how the G5 can be used to mitigate injuries, manage training load and maximise player potential.
