Portuguese champions FC Porto sign performance agreement with Catapult
Portuguese champions FC Porto have partnered with Catapult Sports, the world-leader in performance analytics, to monitor and improve athlete performance.
Recently crowned Primeira Liga champions for the 28th time, FC Porto are using Catapult technology to quantify the performance of players across their first team and ‘B’ team squads. FC Porto’s outfield players will be monitored using Catapult’s S5 device, while the club’s goalkeepers will gain position-specific insights through the G5 unit.
Catapult’s elite tracking devices fit into a player’s sports vest and sync up to the OpenField software platform which allows the user to analyse data in real-time and after each session. Each device contains multiple sensors which collect close to 1,000 data points per second. This information is then used to monitor athlete output, helping coaches to optimise performance, mitigate injury risk and support rehabilitation; three uses that combine to ensure that players are more frequently available and ready to perform at their best.
