Case Study: Al-Wakrah Sport Club

Al-Wakrah Sport Club is a long-established Qatari-based football team, having originally formed in 1959. They currently compete in the Qatar Stars League, the highest professional competition in the country’s football pyramid, after gaining promotion from the Qatari Second Division during the 2018/19 season.

Al-Wakrah’s Performance Analyst is Greg Adams and he introduced Catapult Vision to elevate the technical information that can be sourced during training and match analysis.

“My role is split covering the analysis of physical data sourced from GPS-based wearable technology during training and matches,” Greg says. “The other side of my role involves video analysis, for pre-, in- and post-match analysis including video and statistical analysis, through the use of the Catapult Vision platform.”

Integrating Vision

The performance analyst recently introduced Catapult Vision to the club after previously requiring an intuitive video analysis platform.

“I was looking for a comprehensive analysis solution, I wanted to be able to produce high quality pre- and post-match videos for both players and technical staff easily within one software where I was able to add tv production quality animations to highlight tactical and technical themes effectively and easily.”

The team’s performance analysis strategy integrated Vision because Greg believes that “performance analysis technology is most important for modern performance analysts when monitoring players and providing feedback in both data and video formats”.

Before the introduction of Vision, Greg was using a number of different softwares to analyse performances and training which was considered cumbersome and inefficient.

“During my working week, my time is very precious. Production of tactical team videos was previously very time consuming especially moving around numerous software.”

However, since he introduced the all-in-one video analysis platform, Catapult Vision, he has been able to improve his analysis productivity and efficiency seamlessly. “It allows me to produce videos that provide very clear and concise feedback. The animations that I’m able to produce with the software allow me to highlight the specific messages we want to pass on,” explains Greg.
